Fall Soccer 2020

Ages 8-14

A Partnership with Healdsburg Youth Soccer Association

Program Structure

The Soccer Skills Development Program is intended to provide a safe atmosphere for our youth soccer players to work on their soccer skills and socialize with their peers in a supervised and distanced environment.  Community Services staff and Healdsburg Youth Soccer Association are following guidance from the Sonoma County Health Officer, California Centers for Disease Control, and following best practices from fellow recreation and youth sports providers.

  • Four week-program; Two 45-minute training sessions each week per team
  • Training sessions will be focused on drills, skill development, and distanced team-building
  • Each team and player will have designated training space(s)
  • Games, scrimmages, and tournaments will not take place
  • No direct contact allowed between players, coaches, and volunteers
  • Each team will be in stable groups of 12 (or less) players and a single or small set group of coaches.  Players will remain in the same group throughout the season and may not mix with any other groups.

When and Where will the Program Take Place?

Training sessions will take place at various park fields in Healdsburg.  Your child will be assigned to a specific field and time slot for the duration of the season.  Practices will take place either on Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs and start times will be between 4pm - 6pm.  Your coach will contact you with finalized details the week of September 28 - October 2.

Safety Precautions

  • Face Coverings – Participants are required to wear facial coverings when entering/exiting the field, anytime they are in a group setting,  and whenever consistent distancing of 6-feet or more cannot be maintained.  Coaches are required to wear facial coverings at all times.
  • All coaches and players will take part in daily health screenings upon arrival.  Anyone exhibiting symptoms will not be allowed to enter the program.
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers will be available at each check-in area of the field. All players and coaches will sanitize their hands upon entering/exiting the field
  • Players and coaches will maintain a distance of 6-feet or more between one another while training. Designated training spaces will be marked on the field for each team and player.
  • Each player will be provided with their own equipment, which will not be shared between  players and sanitized at the beginning and end of each session.
  • Parents and siblings will not be permitted to gather in the park or allowed in the training area.  Parents are asked to remain in their vehicles or distanced away from the playing area and away from other families.
  • A 15-minute buffer has been built-in between practice sessions to allow groups to enter/exit the field without overlap.
  • If a player or coach has a direct exposure or confirmed COVID-19 case the individual, or in some instances the whole team, will be required to remain away from the program until cleared to return.
