Foss Creek Pathway - Grand Opening Celebration

Saturday, October 30, 2021

Come celebrate the final completion of the Foss Creek Pathway, a 4.1-mile long bicycle and pedestrian route through the City of Healdsburg, as we cut the ribbon to officially open the path to the public. Run. Walk. Roll.

Foss Creek Pathway Segments 7 and 8 extends the pathway just under one mile along the Railroad right-of-way from the flood control detention basin by the Carson Warner Memorial Skate Park north to Grove Street and Healdsburg Avenue. The Grand Opening event will officially launch Segments 7 and 8 of the pathway for public use on October 30, 2021, from Noon – 1:30 p.m. at the Healdsburg Community Center. The event kicks off with a Run, Walk and Roll lead by Healdsburg Running Company from City Hall to the Healdsburg Community Center starting at Noon. The first 50 participants who complete the Run, Walk, and Roll will receive a completion medal. Activities at the Community Center will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, music, free snacks, E-Bike demonstration, resource booths, and activities for children. Guest speakers include City Councilor David Hagele, Mayor Evelyn Mitchell, and Senator Mike McGuire. The Foss Creek Pathway Grand Opening is free to attend. Please note that some construction will be finalized in the weeks following the event. During this time, the path will remain open for public use with minimal interruption.

The Foss Creek Pathway Plan establishes the alignment and design standards the City of Healdsburg will use to construct a multi-use pathway alongside the Northwestern Pacific Railroad and Foss Creek between Front Street and the city’s northern boundary. Completion of the pathway provides cyclists with safe and convenient bicycle access from the city to northern Sonoma County's premiere wine production areas. The pathway also ties major destinations together within the city by connecting residential areas with employment centers, recreational areas (such as Veteran’s Memorial Beach Park and the Carson Warner Memorial Skate Park) and the downtown. It now provides children a safe route to school, and creates a pedestrian/bicycle link to the planned Healdsburg inter-modal transit facility and railroad station. Major segments of the pathway lie adjacent to Foss Creek and provide the public with opportunities to view its riparian vegetation.
