HEALDSBURG, CA - On Tuesday, April 25, the City of Healdsburg announced the launch of the Climate Mobilization Strategy Prioritization Tool.
The City is developing a Climate Mobilization Strategy to guide future efforts to confront climate change. The strategy will focus on identifying key measures and actions that will be most impactful in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, while also being community driven, feasible, and equitable.
There are well-established methods to reduce GHG emissions, however, how they are implemented in each community is different.
Examples of these measures include:
- Reducing waste and increasing organic waste diversion from landfills
- Reducing vehicle miles traveled, and the amount of individual driving
- Transitioning existing buildings to all-electric appliances and equipment
Feedback from this online tool will be included when drafting the City's Strategy.
"We encourage community members to use the tool to provide their input," said Andrew Sturmfels, Assistant City Manager. "This is an opportunity for the community to let us know what their priorities and comfort levels are as we move towards reducing our emissions."
The prioritization tool is open through Sunday, May 21 and is available in English, here, and in Spanish, here. Community members who work and/or live in Healdsburg are encouraged to complete the survey.
The California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006: Emissions Limit (Senate Bill 32) targets to reduce annual GHG emissions by 40% below the 1990 levels by 2030, and the California Climate Crisis Act (Assembly Bill 1279) targets to be net neutral by 2045.
The Regional Climate Protection Authority's Sonoma Climate Mobilization Strategy targets to be carbon neutral by 2030.
