ADVISORY:
Major work on the Healdsburg Avenue Bridge Retrofit/Rehabilitation Project is progressing on schedule, and includes sandblasting to remove original paint (in accordance with approved safety procedures for lead abatement), primer application, slope stabilization with bioengineered rock slope protection, bridge abutment reconstruction, demo and removal of original concrete deck, structural steel repair and replacement, installing new concrete deck on span 1, and installing temporary access road to the center pier at mid-river.
Next major operation is PILE DRIVING to construct two large (84-inch dia.) steel shell piles beginning July 1st. This work is for replacing the center pier that supports the bridge with a larger, stronger new foundation and will include approximately 10 days of the actual pile driving operation from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM between the dates of 7/1 – 7/27. This 4-week period includes a number of days for welding together sections of the large steel shell piles as these are driven into the riverbed, and also for breakdown & setup from one pile driving location to the other pile driving location within the Russian River. Pile driving will result in elevated noise levels in the immediate vicinity of the Project. Residences within immediate vicinity of the work are advised to close windows and doors when indoors, and avoid outside use areas during pile driving operations.
