Parks & Open Spaces
Sonoma County’s Parks Order (No. C19-13) loosened restrictions for public access to parks and opens spaces in Sonoma County – including Healdsburg.
Still Required: Face masks and Physical Distancing
When in public, please keep at least six feet away from other people (who aren’t members of your household). If that isn’t possible, wear a face masks/covering to help protect others -- please always carry one with you when in public.
What is now open?
Local Parks: Badger, Barbieri, Community Center, Gibbs, Giorgi, Plaza and West Plaza, Railroad, and Sorrento
Open Spaces: Healdsburg Ridge Open Space Preserve and Fitch Mountain Park and Open Space Preserve
The order permits groups of 12 people (who do not need to be members of the same household) to engage in outdoor recreation or sports, including at parks, outdoor recreational businesses, outdoor recreational equipment rental businesses, guided or chaperoned outdoor recreational activities.
Play Structures Also Open
The State of California released new guidance (October 2020) that allows us to reopen play structures in our parks. Our park maintenance crew has completed inspection, cleaning, and repairs of our six play structures, and they are open and ready for your use!
Please following the California Department of Health’s guidelines when using play structures:
1. Face masks over the mouth and nose are required for everyone 2 years of age or older with caregiver supervision at all times to ensure face mask use.
2. Do not use the playground when different households are unable to maintain a physical distance of 6 feet or when the capacity limit has been reached.
3. Caregivers must monitor to keep adults and children from different households at least 6 feet apart.
4. Consider coming on different times or days to avoid wait times and potential crowded times.
5. No eating or drinking in playground, to ensure face masks are worn at all times.
6. Wash or sanitize hands before and after using the playground. (Bring your own hand sanitizer.)
7. Elderly and persons with underlying medical conditions should avoid playground when others are present.
8. Limit visit to 30 min per day when others are present.
What’s still off limits?
Direct physical contact with other people who aren’t members of your household is not allowed yet. Also, contact sports, tournaments, competitions or other sporting events, and live audience activities are not allowed.
Also closed to public use: “High-touch” equipment such as drinking fountains and restrooms.
Park users must assess if they have any COVID-19 symptoms, which include a dry cough, exhaustion, shortness of breath, and fever. Please go here for the list of COVID-19 symptoms that are known so far. If you feel unwell, please stay home.
